Yuba Creek Natural Area

With streams, wetlands, rare plants and wildlife, and even nesting bald eagles, this 413 acre nature reserve is the perfect destination for a nature walk with the whole family! While mountain bikes are not allowed on these trails, the 3.4 mile loop around the reserve is a great place for a moment in nature.

Deepwater Point

Deepwater Point, located along East Grand Traverse Bay, is a scenic location for a quaint walk along the bay or even a day at the beach. This is the perfect location for some relaxing time outside spent picnicking and enjoying the water.

Betsie River Pathway

The Betsie River Pathway is perfect for any of your adventure needs, whether it be hiking, cross-country skiing, or biking, this trail has you covered. With a variety of terrain, over eight miles of groomed trail, and various paths to take based on desired difficulty and length, this location is great for any skillset. The views of the Betsie River offer a serene and quaint escape for your outdoor day trip.

Boardman Lake Trail

  • Address: Parking is available at Medalie Park, 1910 S Airport Rd, Traverse City, MI 49686. On the northern end, parking is also available behind the Traverse City public library.

Situated right in the heart of Traverse City, the Boardman Lake Trail is a wooded four-mile trail perfect for a picnic or casual hour-long nature walk along the banks of the Boardman River. This trail has many picturesque places to stop and relax. The trail offers access to parks, local businesses (Oryana food co-op, Right Brain and The Filling Station microbreweries), and even the public library. Proximity to so many local spots makes this an ideal trail for Traverse City hiking. This is a great spot for walkers or for bikers looking for a quick, scenic ride.

Leelanau Trail

This is one of our favorite Traverse City bike trails! Connecting Traverse City to Suttons Bay, this 17-mile paved trail is perfect for a long, exhilarating bike ride through the stunning scenery of Leelanau County. The trail takes you through forests, vineyards, orchards, lakes, and farms. In the winter this trail is groomed, making it a great option for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Clay Cliffs Natural Area

  • Address: 4755 N Manitou Trail, Lake Leelanau, MI, 49653
  • Distance from Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel: 24 Miles

If you’re looking for breathtaking views of the water, the Clay Cliffs Natural Area hike is perfect for you. While this hike is shorter, it is a bit more on the challenging side with uphill climbs and sandy terrain. But we promise it will be worth the views of Lake Leelanau and Lake Michigan. After an afternoon hiking, stop by Leelanau Sands Casino & Lodge and treat yourself to a bite at Big Dex’s for some pizza and sandwiches.

Vasa Pathway

The Vasa Pathway offers a range of trail lengths, anywhere from 2 to over 15 miles. Located on protected state park land, this trail is sure to bring you back to nature. The Vasa Pathway is great for anyone, from those looking for a relaxing outdoor walk, to someone wanting a challenging bike or ski trail. These trails have you covered!

Cadillac Pathway

  • Address: 3736 S. Seeley Rd, Cadillac, MI 49601

The Cadillac Pathway has over 11 miles of trail for you to roam with varying degrees of difficulty. In the winter the trails are groomed, making them a great option for all your cross-country skiing or fat-tire biking adventures.
