TURTLE CREEK CASINO & HOTEL NAMED MICHIGAN’S BEST
Lands Significant 2011 Readers’ Choice Award from Michigan Meetings + Events

MAY 18, 2011, TRAVERSE CITY, MICH – Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel was named Best Casino and Best Hotel with Meeting and Event Space (200 Guest Rooms or Less) at Michigan Meetings + Events’ 2011 Best Of Readers’ Choice Awards Wednesday night at The Fillmore in downtown Detroit.

The Best of 2011 list was determined by reader votes from the state’s premier meeting and event professionals’ publication, Michigan Meetings + Events magazine. More than 10,000 event planners, suppliers and industry professionals subscribe to the magazine. Each year, readers vote for the top venues, hotels, golf courses and event providers in the state of Michigan in a variety of entertainment-related categories.

Turtle Creek Casino took home top honors in the Best Casino category, besting the MGM Grand Detroit and Little River Casino Resort in reader votes. It was also named the Best Hotel with Meeting and Event Space (200 Guest Rooms or Less), edging out fellow nominees The Inn at St. Johns, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bay City Riverfront and Cambria Suites Traverse City.

Turtle Creek Hotel Manager Scott Fluette and Event Sales Associate David Avis accepted the awards on the organization’s behalf.

“This is a great honor for the staff of our casino and hotel, but also for all of northern Michigan.” Turtle Creek Casino General Manager Rich Bailey said. “When we opened in 2008, we said we’d designed Turtle Creek for comfort, style, convenience, and the environment. Those principles are what have helped us achieve this honor.”

Turtle Creek Casino was previously nominated for Best Casino in 2010.

This year’s awards were presented live at a gala event at The Fillmore in downtown Detroit, with several hundred event planners, entertainment providers and industry professionals in attendance.
